N2  - تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى الوقوف على أهمية شجرة الصمغ العربي (Acacia Senegal) التي تنفرد بها محافظة ظفار دون بقية مناطق الجزيرة العربية، وتسمى محليا "ثوُر" /θū̃r/، ويستخرج منها الصمغ العربي المسمى "ملُخ" /məlɔx/، ذو الجودة الجيدة والقيمة الغذائية العالية. وتشير الدراسات السابقة إلى أنّ الصمغ العربي كان يصدر من موانئ ظفار إلى الأسواق العالمية بكميات كبيرة وبأسعار مرتفعة. علاوة على ذلك، تبيّنَ من خلال الدراسات المتعلقة بهذه الشجرة أنّ هناك إشكاليّة في تحديد هويتها من جانب، وخلطا بين صمغها العربي وغيره من الأصماغ والراتينجات من جانب آخر. عليه تسعى الدراسة الحالية إلى الكشف عن هذا الخلط، ومقارنة وضع الشجرة الحالي بما كانت عليه سابقا، وتوضيح استخداماتها في المجالين: الطبي والاقتصادي. ومن خلال جمع المعلومات من المصادر التاريخية، والزيارات الميدانية ومقابلة الرواة من كبار السن؛ توصلت الدراسة إلى أن الأرقام التي وردت عن إنتاج الصمغ العربي في القرن التاسع عشر واقعية إلى حد بعيد؛ نظرا لانتشار الشجرة الواسع حاليا في سلسلة جبال ظفار، واستمرارية إنتاجها للصمغ العربي. لذلك توصي الدراسة بإعداد أبحاث متقدمة لدراسة شجرة الصمغ العربي في محافظة ظفار، وإجراء مسوحات ميدانية لحصر أماكن انتشارها بدقة. الكلمات المفتاحية:  شجرة الصمغ العربي، ظفار، الزيارات الميدانية، الاستخدامات الطبية والاقتصادية. This study aims to identify the importance of the gum-arabic tree (Acacia Senegal), which is unique to the Governorate of Dhofar without the rest of the regions of the Arabian Peninsula. It is called "Tur" /θū̃r/ locally, and the gum arabic called "Malukh" /məlɔx/, which has high medicinal and nutritional value. The literature studies indicate that gum-arabic was exported from the ports of Dhofar to international markets in large quantities and at high prices. Moreover, through studies related to this tree, it was found problematic in determining the identity of the tree on the one hand, and a confusion between its gum-arabic and other gums and resins on the other hand. Accordingly, the current study seeks to reveal this confusion, and compare the current situation of the tree with what it was in the past, and clarify its uses in the medical and economic fields. Through collecting information from historical studies, field visits and interviewing with older narrators; The study concluded that the figures reported on the production of gum-arabic in the nineteenth century are quite realistic; Due to the wide spread of the gum-arabic tree currently in the Dhofar mountain.
